چکیده

Lignocellulosic biomass, a cheap and plentiful resource, could play key role in the production of sustainable chemicals. The simple sugars contained renewable lignocellulosic biomass can be converted into commercially valuable products such as 5-hydroxymethyl furfural (HMF). A platform molecule, HMF transformed numerous chemical with potential applications wide variety industries. Of hexoses successful from glucose has been challenge. Various heterogeneous catalysts have proposed over last decade, ranging zeolites to metal organic frameworks. reaction conditions vary reports literature, which makes it difficult compare reported different studies. In addition, slight variations synthesis same material laboratories may affect activity results, because selectivity towards desired this transformation strongly depends on nature active sites. This poses another difficulty for comparison reports. Furthermore, decade new catalytic systems increased profoundly. article, we summarize catalysts: Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs), conventional supported catalysts, that recent literature provide an overview observed activity, order comparison.

Conversion of fructose into 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural in sulfolane.

Population growth has created an expanding gap between the supply and demand of both energy and chemicals. Nonrenewable fossil sources, such as coal, natural gas, and petroleum, are the source of nearly 86% of the world’s energy and 96% of its organic chemicals. Diminishing reserves of these sources, rising atmospheric CO2 levels, and socioeconomic concerns require a reduction of our dependence...

Insights into the interplay of Lewis and Brønsted acid catalysts in glucose and fructose conversion to 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural and levulinic acid in aqueous media.

5-(Hydroxymethyl)furfural (HMF) and levulinic acid production from glucose in a cascade of reactions using a Lewis acid (CrCl3) catalyst together with a Brønsted acid (HCl) catalyst in aqueous media is investigated. It is shown that CrCl3 is an active Lewis acid catalyst in glucose isomerization to fructose, and the combined Lewis and Brønsted acid catalysts perform the isomerization and dehydr...

Conversion and assimilation of furfural and 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural by Pseudomonas putida KT2440

The sugar dehydration products, furfural and 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural (HMF), are commonly formed during high-temperature processing of lignocellulose, most often in thermochemical pretreatment, liquefaction, or pyrolysis. Typically, these two aldehydes are considered major inhibitors in microbial conversion processes. Many microbes can convert these compounds to their less toxic, dead-end alco...

Bis-sulfonic acid ionic liquids for the conversion of fructose to 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furfural.

Homogenous bis-sulfonic acid ionic liquids (1 mol equiv.) in DMSO (10 mol equiv.) at 100 °C efficiently mediated the conversion of D-fructose into 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furfural in 75% isolated yield, which was roughly a 10% increment compared to the case of the mono-sulfonic acid ionic liquids.

Photoassist-phosphorylated TiO2 as a catalyst for direct formation of 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural from glucose.

Photo-assisted phosphorylation of an anatase TiO2 catalyst was examined to improve its catalytic performance for the direct production of 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural (HMF), a versatile chemical platform, from glucose. In phosphorylation based on simple esterification between phosphoric acid and surface OH groups on anatase TiO2 with water-tolerant Lewis acid sites, the density of phosphates immob...
